Carlton Chappell is a third-generation, American cowboy bootmaker on Highway 85 in Saint Jo, Texas, where he builds dress cowboy boots in classic styles, and the Trail Town Custom Leather line of boots for working cowboys. Famous for his Sheridan-style carvings and for excellent fitting boots, he teaches three basic bootmaking seminars a year, and offers for one-on-one instruction in all aspects of leatherwork and leather machinery. Carlton Chappell also sells most of the leather tools and supplies boot makers and leatherworkers need.

If you want an interactive version of the book, please order a Basic Bootmaking Kit complete with all the materials you need, and a pair of lasts, then follow the steps to make a boot. Detailed descriptions on seminars, educational materials, tools and supplies, including the Bootmaking Kit are here. Note: If you are planning, or even remotely think, you might want to take Basic Bootmaking seminar after you study the book, we offer a seminar tuition discount if you buy the book from me and register to take the class within a year.
